GDP Article by Heather Darenberg: Trash plan protest set for Saturday
Three political activist groups are joining together Saturday to protest Gwinnett County’s new trash plan, which begins July 1.The Four Corners Tea Party, FreedomWorks Gwinnett and Gwinnett Citizens for Responsible Government have organized the protest, which will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the gazebo next to the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse on the Lawrenceville square.
Debbie Dooley, one of the event’s organizers, said the protesters will be urging the Gwinnett County commissioners to repeal the trash plan — and, in particular, remove the bill from homeowners’ property taxes.
“It’s our way of letting the commissioners know we remember their vote and we’re not going to forget it,” said Debbie Dooley, a Dacula resident and the Georgia grassroots coordinator for FreedomWorks. “We want to make sure they are held accountable for their vote.”

I just spoke with a rep at Gwinnett County to notify them that our neighborhood would be doing projects to recycle at out local recycling area, composting and using the public dump(paying) for our larger items to be hauled there. I was told that Gwinnett County is demanding you have your trash service attached to you property, period “You have no options”. Insane, what happened to freedom of choice..Unbelievable. Our citizens need a good and fair law firm to stand up for what is supposed to be our right. Insane!!!! I guess this is the beginning of the current administration’s show of power other than the wonderful Health Care Bill!!! Just the beginning of what you used to know of our once great county. I will continue to fight this one!!!

I wrote to Gwinnett Finance people a letter summed up as follows, …………. since it is safety and fuel efficiency as part of the reason, when will Gwinnett organize all the lawn care companies into the five areas so none are going to the same area covered by another, and the roofers into the five areas, as well as the cable trucks, one are gets comcast another discovery, and all taken from our tax bill.

I just called for the third time trying to get a broken can replaced and all I get is run around and lip service from Waste Pro. WHY SHOULD THEY BOTHER TO GIVE DECENT SERVICE???? We now pay more and have no choice. I have a can with a huge crack across it and bags hanging half out of it but they can’t be bothered to replace it. They just came up under my carport and slapped their brand stickers over the old company. MAYBE sometime this week after they finish distributing cans to other people who have none. WHAT? This started July 1 and people have no cans? SO MUCH FOR GOVERNMENT CONTROL. This isn’t even the lower bidder ….since there were no bidders and we all got it shoved. You can count of rates going up even more now that there is no competition. DIRTY POLITICS.
